One of my favorite dive destinations, the Cayman Islands boast the diversity, the splendor, and the sheer volume of dive sites that you could dive for an entire year, and be amazed by a different experience each and every day!
This adventure takes us to two of the islands; Little Cayman Island and Grand Cayman. Feast your eyes on these special moments, then make plans to join us on our next trip.
Our adventure begins with a quick stop over in Grand Cayman on the way to Little Cayman Island. As we board our Island hopper to Little Cayman Island, the least developed and least populated island of the three, we discover why you must fly into and out of “Little” (as the locals call the island) in the daytime. The runway is comprised of crushed shells and gravel, and has no lights. Don’t let that fool you, though. Blessed with diving that is arguably some of the best in the world, Little Cayman Beach Resort has become an exceptional dive destination. If legendary Bloody Bay Marine Park is not enough, imagine diving this environment with
concierge level service. That’s right, we set our gear out on the first evening, and then just hop on the boat the next morning to find your Scuba kit completely assembled and ready to go!
Offering some of the most beautiful reef structures to be seen in the underwater world, this is where divers in-the-know go.
Little Cayman, a true “hideaway” from the everyday, comes complete with shimmering white sand beaches and swaying palm trees, the idyllic laid-back island paradise has become a mecca for divers everywhere thanks to the copious amount of marine life, brightly hued sponges and spectacular coral that abounds in its clear, bathtub-like turquoise waters. The Wall at the Bloody Bay Marine Park is a sight you will remember always. Imagine a wall starting at only 18 ft, then plunging to an astounding 6,000 ft! As the centerpiece of one of the world’s finest Marine Parks, the flora and fauna are magnificent, plentiful and healthy.
After four days on Little, we head back over to Grand Cayman for the balance of our adventure. Cobalt Coast Resort will be our home. At small, quiet Cobalt Coast Resort you’ll have easy access to world-class diving and be close enough to the action and excitement of Seven Mile Beach and George Town to satisfy shoppers and sightseers. Weather permitting, great shore diving is also available to guests on our house reef, and the fabulous North Wall is just a short swim away.
Grand Cayman Island, or simply “Grand” carries the moniker of “Pioneer of Recreational Diving”. Grand is also home to one of the world’s most famous dive sites; Stingray City.
Legend has it that stingrays began gathering in the area decades ago when fisherman returning from an excursion, navigated behind a reef into the sound, and cleaned their fish in the calm water of the shallows and sandbar area. The fish guts and squid were thrown overboard and the stingrays eventually congregated to feast there. Soon the stingrays associated the sound of a boat engine with food. As this practice turned into a tradition, divers realized that the stingrays could be fed by hand. True or not, it will be a memory you will hold dear for the rest of your days.
I would love to have you join me on this adventure!
